20 Below, Oh No!

So this is what four-below zero Fahrenheit looks like. I don't pretend that my experience is in any way unique. However, I do insist that it is the only one that matters.

Also, my shower situation has deteriorated somewhat from the salad days of November. The pressure is still there. That's not a problem. But due to the pressure, the gasket on the nozzle ring separated and now the head just sprays in every direction. Helter skelter. Hurly burly. So now there's no "safe zone" in the shower to where you can retreat when you are, say, lathering up.

Not-so-gracefully seque'ing here... I wanted to proffer a dedicated shout-out to Don Hannah. You see, not too long ago I was in Telluride skiing and found myself without proper gloves. Don's ability to ferret out the exact right piece of gear for the situation is unparalleled in all the world. If he tells you this is the right sock for bullfighting then, by Pablo, you get that sock.


So there in Telluride Don plunked these Marker gloves on the counter and suggested these were the ones I wanted. They turned out to be warm and supple on the slopes. And here in Moscow they are likewise warm and supple. So, Don, spacibo!


Tangerines are a winter fruit very popular here in Russia. If you scrutinize earlier photos in this blog you will see bowls of this orange delectable on dinner tables. I happen to have two in my kitchen right now. I also have a lemon.
